Every family is different and ours is definitely different! Typically, families have their quirks, their standards, their ideals and we seriously have our share of quirks. We love to hit up Disneyland whenever we can. It really is the happiest place on earth. Actually it would be great if all kids had the opportunity to go. I kinda feel Walt Disneys intention wasn't to price out the less fortunate but somehow it happened. Wouldn't it be cool to somehow make it possible for kids to experience it? Just a thought.
We celebrate Autism in our home (did I say that???). I wonder who came up with "celebrate". If you live in a home with autistic kids, it's no party and no real celebration. It can be a huge struggle, why lie about it. We have three kids (well, they're all grown up now but two still.... Two live with us and are both autistic. We have our struggles, fights, screaming matches, and arguments. We also laugh it up and make fun of each other too. It's either "live, love, & Laugh" or go crazy in this household.
Addendum, happy to report our youngest son whom we have had the most difficult time, has been turning the corner into being more hospitable. Not perfect, but he's trying harder, as are we.
We play video games, binge watch TV shows, take little trips here and there, or do what we can knowing we have limitations. Can't get too adventureous due to my medical issues, but we try.
In 2019, I discovered my dad's side of the family. I've never known my dad but he's on my birth certificate. I reached out at age of 55 to see what I could find using ancentry.com. I discovered I have a sister on my dads side. My dad had passed away in 1995. Thinking about it, I'm not so sure Wanda was totally convinced up front but I think the plane ticket she bought and seeing me convinced her I was her brother. She said she saw me and said she'd thought she'd seen a ghost. It was great meeting her. We flew out to Alabama as well and ventured around. Got to meet Rodney, travel around to Tennessee, see Dollywood and Nashville during the pandemic so couldn't really do much. Now we're just waiting on our next adventure.....
Another addendum, it's now been 5 years since I met my sister in Alabama. Has it been that long already? Oh my!! It's nice to have another life adventure here. We've been trying to make plans to go back and forth seeing each other.
